Found right on the package as step 1 of the directions for using, this gets you excited for the intoxicating scents that Rockin' Green offers. The different formulations of detergent definitely contribute to a "theme" when it comes to scents.
-Smashing Watermelons
-Rage Against the Raspberries
-Earth, Wind, & Orchids
-Lavender Mint Revival
-Bare Naked Babies
Rockin' Green also offers formulations just for cloth menstrual pads (Femme Rock) and pets (Dog House Rock).
Rockin' Green has a lower pH than many other detergents on the market so it's safe to use for gentler fabrics. It's also a great choice for sensitive skin types. I also love that they specifically design their detergents with your water type in mind. They offer Soft Rock, Classic Rock, and Hard Rock. We live in an area with very hard water and it's so nice to have found a detergent that can battle it.
Just about the time that I received some Rockin' Green samples to try out, I knew that my diapers were getting grimy and something needed to be done. To use as a diaper soak I wanted to try a couple different methods. Directions on the package indicate how to do a soak using your machine.
"To get rid of built up minerals and left over detergent, do the following:
1. Fill your washer with hot water and 3 Tbs Rockin' Green along with your diapers.
2. Let it soak for approximately 30-60 minutes, then launder as usual, skipping the soap."
Although I did follow these instructions for a soak, for the first load I actually did an overnight soak in the bathtub. I ran some extremely hot water into the tub and added in as many diapers as I would in a regular laundry load. I followed the recommended soak amount of 3 Tbs and let soak for a few hours. I then transferred the diapers to the washer and continued laundering.
Overall, I loved the detergent! We received the Earth, Wind, & Orchids and it was very fresh smelling and made me bury my nose in diapers after drying. That soak made such a difference! The diapers no longer had a yucky smell and they came out brighter than before. =) I personally feel that the soak in the tub was more effective but that could also be because I have a front loading HE machine that I have a love/hate relationship with. I think the extra water that the tub diapers got made a difference in aiding to thoroughly clean and rinse.
Buy It
Be sure to go to Rockin' Green to get a bag (or two) for yourself and start to experience the Rockin' Green difference. At an average of 2 Tbs per load (Recommended 2-3 Tbs, 1-2 Tbs for HE), there's pretty good value in each bag.

I really want to see how great the Doghouse Rock works (if it's anything like the cloth diaper detergent, it has to be great!). I don't have a dog (yet) but my parents have two and their beds are always so stinky. Do you think my mom would mind if that was her mother's day present?
ReplyDeleteIf your mom already loves having her dogs then I don't see why it wouldn't make a great gift!! Imagine how much more she'll love them if she can small them less. =)
DeleteI just got a bag for mama pads, now I just need to wait for my period to start using it.
ReplyDeleteI love Rockin Green, I've used the detergent and funk rock! Thanks for sharing your Sponsor Spotlight and Thank you to Rockin Green for the giveaway!
