Why am I doing the Summer #BlogChallenge?

--Why are you doing this challenge?

Well, I used to write a LOT. I wrote poetry, short fiction, stories for my high school yearbook, pretty much anything. Now I find that I don't have time to write for myself and a lot of the time my blog even suffers from lack of content and writing. I sometimes get a great idea for a post only to forget it later. If I'm lucky I may get a few sentences down but then the post gets lost among the ones that get published and they never get finished. I feel like I need to challenge myself so I decided to do a blog post every day this summer (June 1st-August 31st). I unexpectedly had a lot of response that others wanted to participate. I organized the challenge and I now have a group of amazing bloggers relying on me to make this a success. It's a bit daunting to think of it that way but that will keep me motivated to stay on top of things. It will teach me to schedule posts (which I don't currently do) so that I can multi-task better and be a little more efficient at this blogging thing. Another part of it is just the basic idea that adding something into your routine for x amount of days (I believe I read somewhere it takes 17 days to create a habit) to become your habits and I think that 90 days is a surefire way to get it programmed into my day. =)

You can read all my #BlogChallenge posts HERE for your convenience.

  3. I love this! I'll be participating as well. ♥ One thing I learned from an awesome BlogLove e-course I took/am taking, is to keep a journal/notepad with you at all times, and jot down ideas as they come to you so you can refer to them later. I just keep a little palm journal in my purse. It helps you when you're drawing a blank, and it also helps you not to forget things!

  6. Oh, I totally relate to getting a great idea for a topic and then forgetting it later. I do most of my thinking either in the shower or when I'm nursing the baby for his nap (i.e. my only quiet times during the day), and never have something I can write on during those times. Sometimes I seriously wish Google would invent some kind of computer that attaches to your brain so that when I think of something, it logs it away on my computer for later! haha!

    1. Hopefully it'll be a habit to blog daily soon and I won't need a challenge to keep doing it. I'll keep it in mind though ;)

  10. I could have written this myself. This is a great idea! I also used to write all the time but now I can't seem to find the time or think of anything that I think others may be interested in. I need to invest in a laptop so that I can write when the thought strikes instead of waiting until I can go into the office for a while because by then, the thought is gone.

  11. I'm so excited for this!! I often forget my wonderful, awesome blog ideas. I can have an entire post composed in my head, and then the next time I sit down, it's gone. :)

    1. I love the idea of keeping a journal on me--I have a book that I use to put lines from the books that I am reading that strike me--but I definitely think I could add a small book to my purse where I could write ideas as they strike me. Or maybe use one of the notebook apps on my phone?

  13. I am going to try to do this as well--I recently started trying to tell my story in pictures and that has helped me post more often.

  18. Thank you for doing this. This is really challenging for me especially since I don't enjoy writing. I wish I did! My thoughts just don't flow and it takes me so long just to write a simple thought and it still won't be what I want. The prompts will really help too!
