A cloth diaper wash routine is something that is painstakingly perfected by each cloth diapering mama. There are many factors that can affect how you should wash your diapers such as your water, detergent being used, style of diaper, and type of washer. My particular situation is as follows. We have very hard water and use a front loading HE machine. Our diapers are mostly AI2s and Pockets.
I start with a warm/warm wash. I sometimes add a scoop of Oxi powder.
I then run a hot wash and add my detergent.
Just to be safe I like to do about 3 washes afterward on hot.
I then hang dry in our attached greenhouse area.
Sunning your diapers helps so many different things from lightening stains, killing bacteria and just smelling line fresh. =)

I love line drying! It cuts energy costs for us but it also makes things smell better than dryer sheets in my opinion.
