--Other than blogging, what's my guilty pleasure?
I have to say that I am totally addicted to reality television, horrible I know. We don't even have cable which helps but we do subscribe to Hulu so I've noticed that I'm watching those reality/competition shows now that the various series I was watching have now ended for the spring. I don't know why I love them so much but I think it works for me as a way to keep my life drama free. Lately, I've watched Bad Girls Club (uber drama every episode), the Real World, Next Food Network Star and just finished America's Next Top Model. I really only watch these shows during nap time while hubby is at work. I definitely don't want my child watching something like The Real World and hubby really dislikes all those shows because they are so dumb (he doesn't mind the cooking ones, hah!). He's so right, too. I sit there and think to myself 'how is it possible that people get themselves into these situations' and it really reminds me of all the things I don't ever want to be know for. There's just some things that aren't classy. =)
My other guilty pleasure is watching children's movies. One of the best perks to having a child. =) Since having our ladybug we rarely even watch movies that aren't animated or meant for the whole family. This is including the movies that we watch when she's sleeping. Lately, we've been watching movies that are a little bit older. Recently watched list includes Harriet the Spy (anyone else remember that one??), NeverEnding Story, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (the movies, not cartoons), Ghostbusters, and Wallace & Gromit the tv series. The last mostly being my hubby although his favorite movie is definitely Megamind.
Would it be wrong to make watching kids movies a top five best thing about being a mom?? Try telling me there aren't some of your kid's movies that you find yourself paying more attention to than your kids do. ;)

I find myself shushing the kids during their children's movies! I especially like Milo and Otis and lots of the ones from Feature Films for Families.
ReplyDeleteThe Never Ending Story is one of my all time favorites! I love, love, love fantasy! My husband actually bought a movie "for our son" when he was only a few months old. I know he really bought it for himself!
ReplyDeleteI really miss watching Bear in the Big Blue House, Thomas the Tank Engine and PB & J Otter!! So, I get them from the library and have them playing in the background while I'm in the studio or cleaning the house. My other vice... children's books! I adore children's books, so I check those out as well. Good thing I work in a library! LOL
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean!

Oh I definitely enjoy watching kids' movies! So does my hubby! :)
ReplyDeleteI love watching kids movies too!
ReplyDeleteWoohoo! Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movies! (Yes, I have seen them all.) Sad, but true.
ReplyDeleteI am looking forward to having a great excuse to watch Disney movies again once my baby girl is a little older. My son is 13, so we do not watch too many kid movies anymore with him. I used to LOVE watching Robots, The Sandlot, and when he was much younger the Little Stuart movies with him.
ReplyDeleteAnd I used to be a glutton for the Real World and the Real World/Road Trip challenge shows, lol! I defend it by saying that the Real World really was the first reality show. Every other show just copied off of it. ;)
I am addicted to The Bachelor/Bachelorette/BachelorPad. We even have parties to watch these shows, primarily to joke about them but... oh, its one of those things I don't like to admit I do but I do!! Great topic for today's Summer Challenge!
ReplyDeleteWe watched Megamind recently. :)
ReplyDeleteLove Megamind! It's funny. Wolf Prince isn't too into movies yet, but I enjoy watching children's movies. We've been collecting Disney movies when they are out of the vault. I love Disney movies.
ReplyDeleteI love some of the shows they have for kids these days. Pocoyo, Peep and the Big Wide World, The Upside Down Show... they can be seriously fabulous!
ReplyDeleteI love watching children's movies with my son too whether at home, on our cable, or at the cinemas. We recently watched 'Tangled' on cable.
