I'm in Love with Boba Review & Giveaway!

I like to think that I fall under the "attachment" parenting style. I love the idea of co-sleeping, breastfeeding and cloth diapering. I even loved the idea of babywearing.. for a while. I had gotten a well known brand that had been recommended to me by lots of other mothers. In their eyes it was *the* carrier to have and none other could compare.

Guess what, it was extremely uncomfortable on my 5'4 100 pound frame. It caused pain in my shoulders and in my lower back and I had this nagging feeling that I still needed to keep my arms around baby to hold her up. We used it on a few outings that weren't suitable for strollers, but other than that it has just been sitting around getting no use. I thought about giving it another try now that Talia is bigger because it would be more convenient than a stroller. It was around that time that I learned it was s dreaded "crotch dangler". This term has come to describe those carriers that have a thin area of support between the legs for the baby to be supported on. 

...Then I got a Boba 3G in the Soho print. =)

 The 3G is what's considered a soft carrier, and is meant for babies and children weighing from 7-45 pounds.  My little girl weighs about 24 pounds so I'm really excited that I'll still be able to wear her for quite a while longer in the Boba. I thought that she might not like it since we didn't actually use the Bjorn often and when we did she never seemed content, but upon using it the first time she was instantly comfortable and I just love the way it feels to have little arms hugging around me. =)

You have a few different options when using the 3G. The newborn hold is a good option for babies 7-15 pounds and the carrier is adaptable to the newborn position without needing any extra attachments. How great is that? 
Little ones 15-30 pounds can be carried in the front carry position. Once they hit 20 pounds they can be carried on your back until they hit 45 pounds. My little girl at 19 months is 24 pounds so I'm hoping I'll be wearing her for a while!!
Boba has very clear, easy to follow instructions for the various carrying options. 

There are so many great features to the 3G. First, the waist band comfortably fits sizes falling in the 25"-58" range. Along the waist band there is a pocket opening for you to put small items. Along the side, there is a zipper that opens to a pocket underneath. The pockets are big enough for a phone, cards, cash, small wallet, and a small set of keys-- perfect for taking your little one out on a walk or for doing shopping and keeping your hands as free as possible!!
For a front carrying position, these are definitely easily accessible and handy to use. I found that even from a back carrying position, it was easy to access both bottom pockets if I correctly remembered which side the zipper was on. =)


The great thing about the Boba is that it has the widest seat of carriers on the market. It puts your child in the natural position they would assume when you're holding them. The legs are in a frog like position which adjusts the pelvis and aligns the spine. Because it's made from 100% cotton it is also breathable and helps keep your little one from getting overheated.

When talking about a carrier that works with such a range of body types, you're bound to have the issues of hanging straps. Boba has solved this problem by adding an elastic loop to neatly secure each strap. Mine are pretty much as tight as they go and I was so excited to see that I could roll them up and out of the way easily. The buckles used are military grade so you don't have to worry about them coming undone while wearing your child. It was even difficult for me the first couple times to get it to snap in because they snap together so securely!
The weight of the child is evenly distributed and I didn't feel myself having to lean one direction or another trying to compensate. Part of the reason for this is that the carrier sits 2-3" higher than other carriers. The straps on the carrier are nicely padded which alleviates any pressure even more. Another awesome feature on the straps is that the 3G now features this added little strap that snaps on each shoulder. What could that be for you ask? How about for securing diaper bags or purses on your shoulder. Just one more way to be hands-free!!

There's also a removable hood that can cover baby while sleeping. It snaps into a pocket near the top of the carrier body and after being rolled up, it can be stored in the pocket and zipped away. The hood can also be used for discreet nursing. Yay!
