31 Days to Great-- Well, You know..

Valentine's Day is one of those holidays that has sadly gotten overlooked in our home for a few years in a row now. I think it stems from the fact that hubby and I both share a birthday exactly one week after V-Day and somewhere along the line it either became a hassle for planning or just breaking the budget. Now, it usually ends up that we don't do anything to celebrate either event and I don't know about you, but I really feel like I need to make a commitment to not only celebrate these things but to really make an effort to be the wife to my husband that I want to be. I want to surprise him with cute but cheesy love notes or little hidden gifts. I want to make plans to escape from our everyday "normal" and just get away from this house or this town for a while (and actually have them pan out).

31 Days to Great SexPart of growing our family includes growing and developing the relationships within it and with our children being so young, I believe it's very important to develop the relationship I have with my husband. By strengthening our relationship, we set a better foundation for our children and I'd like to think they'll not only feel more loved themselves, but search for something real as they get older and find love on their own. I hope that our relationship can be a good model for what it is they should be looking for. With that being said, and with Valentine's Day tomorrow, I want to introduce you to an amazing read, 31 Days to Great Sex by Sheila Wray Gregoire, blogger at To Love, Honor & Vacuum.

The book is essentially a 31 day workshop to not only understanding your spouse on a better level, but really focusing on the intimacy that should be in a marriage and sex as a whole, not just the physical pleasure of it. The first week really has you take a look into yourself and not only confront past issues that may be holding you back in your current relationship, but also at misconceptions you or your spouse may have about sex and great trust building activities to help you work through and get past those issues. Shelia teaches you how to view sex as a positive thing and includes daily activities with each lesson to get you and your spouse working together to become the couple you really want to be. She touches on aspects such as self esteem, remembering what it was about your spouse that you love so much, and learning to appreciate him/her for who they are and giving you the push to understand them and their needs completely.

The book also has you focus on the emotional, physical and spiritual aspects of sex and your relationship. Not only are there some really creative and fun ideas as date and play ideas with your spouse, but she even includes some really great reminders on ways to flirt with your spouse. After all, you married this person and I can almost guarantee that your relationship sparked off of some good 'ol flirting.

As much as I'd love to divulge every tip and detail of this book, for only $4.99 it really is worth it to get it for yourself and work through it with your spouse. Whether you are lacking in the love department, hitting a plateau, or just want a way to rev up your intimate life from a 9 to a 10, 31 Days to Great Sex will help you get there confidently.

  2. This does sound like an interesting book. Finding time for each other, especially with young children is difficult, if not nearly impossible.

  3. Sex gets so much more difficult when kids come along, although it probably doesn't need to be! I'm interested in reading this book!
